Welcome to Karen Hovie Writes in general and the Karen Hovie Writes ‘About’ page in particular .

I realize this is my opportunity to wow you with what an incredibly smart, knowledgeable, and insightful human being I am.

Which makes the following a bit awkward.

I’m really not much of an expert in anything. Though I do have experience in many things.

Experience as a wife. (Coming up on 30 fun filled years.)

As a mom. (3 adult children, all of whom are contributing members of society. And, I hate to brag, but not a single one resides in my basement.)

As a teacher. (I’ve taught everything from 1st to 7th grade. And I need to be honest, 1st graders may be adorable, but my true love was middle school. Honest.)

As a runner. (What I lack in speed, I make up for with a race t-shirt obsession.)

I also have the experience of being female. (53 years worth.)

Of being white. (Same.)

Of being middle aged. (So what exactly is middle aged?)

Of being Christian. (Born and raised.)

Of being a Wisconsinite living in Georgia. (Going on 2 years now. Whole different world down here. Whole different world.)

As well as a myriad of other labels you are sure to discover. (If you hang around long enough, that is. No pressure.)

So a little disclosure is needed. (You know, just in case you are slow on the draw.)

This blog is written from my perspective, based on my experiences.

In other words, you can take what I write with a grain of salt. Truth requires a much wider lens. (And that’s why I am hopeful you will share your experiences as well!)

At any rate, I’m writing this blog because I enjoy the process of writing. Or at least I enjoy the process once I’m done with the process. I’m not always enjoying the process during the process.

And I am writing this blog because sometimes I feel I have something to say. (And sometimes I don’t have anything to say. But I write anyway. Please accept my apologies ahead of time.)

Still reading?

Bless you.

And thanks for stopping by.
